From Junction 40 of the M6, head west along the A66 (signposted "Keswick"), after less than a mile, at the next roundabout, turn left onto the A592 (signposted "Ullswater"). Follow this road for about three and a half miles. You will see a big sign with a picture of a red squirrel on it - that is us. If you reach the lake, you have gone about 150 yards too far!
A592 road closures
There will be overnight closures (9pm-7am) running on the A592 at Kirkstone Pass from 30th October - 17th November. These overnight closures are for drain repairs and to install the wooden-clad vehicle restraint systems (crash barriers). During these night closures, there will be daytime traffic lights.
There will be similar overnight closures on the following dates: Wednesday 6 December until Wednesday 20 December 2023 | Wednesday 3 January until Friday 19 January 2024
