The Park enjoys a quiet, family orientated character set amongst ancient woodland providing shelter and a managed environment for wildlife. The conservation contribution that the Park has achieved, have brought a reward of Gold status under the David Bellamy Award scheme every year since 2000. The Park also continues to support a voluntary fund-raising scheme for other conservation projects in the Ullswater Valley through the Tourism and Conservation Partnership.
The Ullswater valley has a rich biodiversity of wildlife whose ancient woodlands and fells provide breeding habitats for some of our rarer species such as red deer, red squirrels and barnacle geese. There is a vast array of species that live within and around the Park itself including red squirrels.
