GARDEN TOUR – ORCHARD PLANNING & PLANTING @ Lowther
Nobody knows the orchard at Lowther like Martin Ogle - for in 2013, in conjunction with the South Lakes Orchard Group and the North Cumbria Orchard Group, Martin helped to plant the first orchard here for at least 100 years. The plantation is made up of 167 trees and was structured on a timeline so that it includes varieties of plums, apples, pears, damsons and hazel from across the centuries. Martin will give you an insider's guide into the planting of this orchard, together with some tips on planning and planting your own. Tour begins at 1.30pm. Followed by a Q&A session in the Lowther Café.
