Wildlife at Waterfoot Park
The Park enjoys a quiet, family orientated character set amongst ancient woodland providing shelter and a managed environment for wildlife. The conservation contribution that the Park has achieved, have brought reward of Gold status under the David Bellamy Award scheme every year since 2000. The Park also continues to support a voluntary fund-raising scheme for other conservation projects in the Ullswater Valley through the Tourism and Conservation Partnership.
This is a valley with a rich biodiversity of wildlife whose ancient woodlands and fells provide breeding habitats for some of our rarer species such as red deer, red squirrels and barnacle geese. There is a host of species that live within and around the Park itself including red squirrels.
